‘Ugly Betty’s Salma Hayek Does ‘30 Rock’
NBC announced the news today: Ugly Betty executive producer and occasional guest star Salma Hayek is heading to Tina Fey’s 30 Rock for a multi-episode arc. She’ll play Elisa, the latest love interest of the sitcom’s resident bossman, Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy, some time after the Emmy-winning series launches its third season on October 30.
Apparently, the casting is part of a mutual lovefest between two of television’s most popular and talented female forces. Hayek says, “I have been a fan of Tina’s talent, both as an actress and a writer, since working with her years ago on ‘SNL.’ I am so excited to be part of such an intelligent, funny show, as well as working with the brilliant Alec Baldwin and the rest of the cast of ‘30 Rock.’”
And, 30 Rock creator, executive producer, and star Fey is thrilled, too, according to her comment, “Salma is smart, funny, and gorgeous. I think she will be a great strong presence opposite Jack Donaghy.”
Hayek joins previously announced big-name guest star Oprah Winfrey, who’s scheduled to appear on the November 6 episode of the series.
