Now all we have to do is wait patiently until then to learn the resolution of the Season Two wedding cliffhanger. It was during the finale that almost-groom Bobby (Kyle Howard) finally began to examine his feelings for PJ, who, unfortunately, had already struck up a relationship with his brother. I can’t wait to see how all that works out.

Amber’s series is an hourlong crime-procedural dramedy called The Unusuals that sounds like it’s in the funny vein of USA Network’s Monk, for instance. Alyssa’s show, on the other hand, is a half-hour sitcom called Single with Parents. It co-stars veteran actor Beau Bridges, who also appeared numerous times on NBC’s My Name Is Earl, along with Alyssa. Bridges won a Best Guest Actor Emmy for his role as title character Earl’s father just last year.

The details for the shows follow. I’m looking forward to both. How about you?

The Unusuals

Premise: A comedic crime procedural set in a New York police precinct where cops need to have a twisted sense of humor, because every moment could be their last. Amber stars as Casey Schraeger, who started as an NYPD vice detective before unexpectedly being transferred to the homicide division. She quickly realizes that everyone in her new department has a unique sense of humor, in addition to dirty little secrets.

Thrilled that her divorced parents are leading exciting lives, she still thinks both of them rely on her way too much. Her father needs her as a surrogate parent, and her mother depends on her around the clock as a shrink and confidante. Yet, Lou is determined to finally find a fulfilling life for herself. The series is based on the experiences of executive producer and writer Kristin Newman.

There’s good news for fans of television shows that pack a laugh. Lifetime recently announced it has a new sitcom coming this fall, the network’s first comedy in an entire decade, believe it or not.

Called Rita Rocks, the half-hour series will star The King of Queens alum Nicole Sullivan as one Rita Clements. Rita would appear to have it all — whatever that means — since she has a husband, a job, and two daughters. But, of course, that only sounds so great on the surface.

Underneath the façade, Rita’s life is in need of some serious rejuvenation. So what does Rita do? Well, she falls back on her youthful ambitions and starts up a garage band with a group of friends in her age bracket.

I think the premise of this show sounds great, and the other cast members even better. They include Richard Ruccolo (Joey, Two Guys and a Girl) as Rita’s husband Jay; Tisha Campbell-Martin (My Wife and Kids, Martin) as post office worker and fellow band member Patty; and Ian Gomez (Jake in Progress, The Drew Carey Show) as out-of-work neighbor and other fellow band member Owen.

When Rita Rocks arrives in the fall, it will be paired with Reba in a new hourlong comedy block, a winning combination for Lifetime if ever I’ve seen one. It’s hard to imagine how this could fail.

The occasion was Tuesday’s U.S. premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie in New York, the urban mecca that’s just as much a character in the Sex saga as the women themselves, not to mention their men and their fashion.

Guests were scheduled to arrive around 6pm at Radio City Music Hall, and they came out in droves. In addition to author Candace Bushnell, the woman behind the TV series and movie, there was star Chris Noth; actor Matthew Broderick, husband of star Sarah Jessica Parker; icon Bette Middler; actress-model Molly Sims; actresses Emmy Rossum and Ashley Olsen; veteran actresses Lorraine Bracco, Christine Ebersole, Edie Falco, and Joan Allen; actor Dean Winters; actress and TV-show hostess Caroline Rhea; comedienne-writer Amy Sedaris; and stage actress Idina Menzel, among other thespians.

From the broader celebrity world, there was also R&B superstar Mary J. Blige; R&B singer Michelle Williams; rapper Lil’ Kim; pop and R&B performer Fergie, who has a song on the movie’s soundtrack; fashion designer Nicole Miller; editor-in-chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour; Project Runway winner Christian Siriano; entertainers Regis and Joy Philbin; celebrity couple Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld; newsperson Katie Couric; fashion-design partners Mark Badgley and James Mischka; society couple Donald and Melania Trump; and the list just goes on and on and on.

Take a look at the dazzling cast members at the movie’s New York pink-carpet premiere after the jump. Reviews of the film continue to fall in the middle of the road thus far. As I’ve said before, however, I don’t think that’s going to have much of an impact on its overall success given the great dedication and enthusiasm of Sex’s legion of fans.

Sex and the City: The Movie opens in wide release in the United States this Friday, May 30. For those who are counting, that’s just two short days away.

If you’ve ever wondered what the entertainers we see on TV like to watch on TV, take a look at the video to find out the answer to that for those four actresses. I’m just a bit surprised that such busy women have time to catch anything on the tube at all since their jobs go far beyond acting on their respective series. In the first one, Carrie breaks some pretty big news during a lunch date with her gal pals Charlotte and Miranda, and Charlotte seems happier than anybody else could possibly ever be.

The second clip features the same three friends taking a stroll outside, raising the question, “When in the world is Samantha going to get there?!”

There’s no relief in the third clip either, which focuses on Carrie and her assistant Louise, played by Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.

It probably makes no difference what pro critics say — countless fans are going to show up on or shortly after the May 30 U.S. premiere date anyhoo. But, still, the advance reviews for the forthcoming film version of the hit HBO sitcom Sex and the City are underwhelming, to say the least.

Writes Variety: “Best in its small moments, the movie should find receptive gal pals congregating for the mother of all viewing parties, but appeal beyond that core should present New Line with less of a storybook finish than it doubtless would like.”

Writes The Hollywood Reporter: “In need of some serious tightening up, the flabby picture does what the old Samantha would have never done: It keeps hanging around, pushing for a long-term relationship.”

What say you? Will the middling reviews have any influence on your decision whether or not to go and see the movie? Do the lukewarm words make you even more determined to enjoy a few hours with Carrie/Sarah Jessica Parker and the girls?
