Fabulous news for Season One Ghost Whisperer regular Aisha Tyler, who’s one of my favorite entertainers ever — I’m still getting over her departure from J. Love’s hit. Reports indicate that the talented comedienne and actress has landed the top-dog spot on a pilot that could lead to her very own talk show!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ABC Media Prods. project The Aisha Tyler Show would feature an interesting mixture of comedy bits, humorous political commentary, segments more common on late-night shows, and — of course — traditional talk-show fare.

Will & Grace Emmy winner Debra Messing is back in action at NBC.
The star of USA Network’s recently canceled sophomore series The Starter Wife has reunited with Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott, both executive producers and writers of that dramedy, for a currently untitled single-camera comedy also penned by the team.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, there was so much interest in acquiring the project, name or not, that ABC and NBC ended up actively competing for it, with The Peacock finishing on top.

ABC has finally found the third witch to headline its forthcoming drama pilot Eastwick and her name is Rebecca Romijn, former star of television series like Ugly Betty and Pepper Dennis. I, for one, think this is excellent casting, especially given the retired supermodel’s nice work as Mystique in the X-Men film trilogy. Why didn’t I realize she’s perfect for a witch role before this development?

Today brings good news for TV viewers who loved CBS’ canceled 1970s-era drama Swingtown and only wish the best for the show’s cast now that the series is kaput. Star Molly Parker, also known as sweet Susan Miller to us incurable TV swingers, has been added to the cast of HBO’s forthcoming pilot The Wonderful Maladys.

There’s more telling news today for fans of NBC’s apparently increasingly endangered dramedy Lipstick Jungle.
Following last week’s development that Lipstick star Lindsay Price has joined the pilot for the promising potential ABC series The Witches of Eastwick as a lead character comes the recent announcement that her costar Kim Raver has joined another equally promising potential ABC series as — get this — a lead character. Whoa!
In Raver’s case, the pilot is for Inside the Box, the network-news project heavily associated with Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes, although she’s just an executive producer for it. …read more

Sometimes it seems like TV network executives have never seen an old show they don’t want to remake or adapt. Last week, The CW ordered a pilot for its adaptation of the 1992–1999 Fox series Melrose Place, which was a spinoff of the 1990-2000 Fox hit Beverly Hills, 90210, the inspiration for the network’s current high-profile rookie 90210.

This week brings very bad news for fans of Lipstick Jungle.
Although both NBC executives and Lipstick cast members have recently assured loyal followers that the dramedy definitely is not officially over, what are we supposed to think when one of the three stars joins the cast of another high-profile potential series? At the end of July, series creator Joss Whedon informally announced that he would be revising the original pilot for his upcoming Fox midseason drama Dollhouse.
The new premiere episode is currently called “Ghost,” according to the header on the draft script, and you can take a look at parts of it in the “casting sides” following the jump. TV industry insiders call the material casting sides, which is basically just another name for sections of a script given to actors auditioning for roles.

Charmed fans have some great news to stand up and cheer about now. Actress Holly Marie Combs (first on right in photo), better known to the devoted as middle sister turned oldest sister Piper Halliwell, has been cast in an upcoming pilot from Lifetime called Mistresses.
The new drama is based on a U.K. series that follows four college friends in their thirties. Combs’ character is a stay-at-home mother named Jane who left her career for the joys of domesticity.
