There’s a super-sized, 90-minute second-season finale in store for fans of FX’s Damages tonight at 10pm ET, and hopefully viewers will finally learn what the heck Ellen Parsons is up to in that hotel room with that big ol’ gun.

True to the precedent set by Damages’ complicated and twisted first season, there’s so much going on during the second-season premiere “I Lied, Too,” I almost feel sorry for any viewers trying to jump in without having watched or at least read recaps of the first season.
Expected complexity aside, something still seems to be missing from Damages this time around: last season’s urgent (emphasis intended) sense of mystery that arose the moment bloody, dazed, and nearly naked Ellen Parsons appeared onscreen and meandered through the streets of Manhattan before winding up at a police station, where she was questioned by …read more

It’s true — apparently FX’s Damages has gone all Web 2.0 and whatnot, so fans really can follow Glenn Close’s master manipulator character Patty Hewes on Twitter.
Yesterday, I decided to plug a recent IGN TV interview with Damages’ Close and creators and executive producers Todd A. Kessler and Daniel Zellman through my Twitter account. Soon afterwards, someone named Patty Hewes started following me, and I immediately returned the favor.

Mark your calendars, fans of Glenn Close and intelligent, mature dramas: Patty Hewes & Company will open the 13-episode second season of FX’s lawyer thriller Damages on Wednesday, January 7, at 10pm EST.
I’m really, really looking forward to the Emmy-approved (Close for Best Actress and Zeljko Ivanek for Supporting Actor) thrills and chills, especially after watching Season Two trailers like the one below and the pair after the jump.

Glenn Close and/or Damages fans take note: FX recently announced an upcoming marathon of all thirteen episodes from the intense legal drama’s first season.
The time to park your TV on the network’s channel is Saturday, August 9, starting at 7am EST and lasting until 8pm.
Yes, I know, that’s mighty darn early in the morning to watch a disturbing series like Damages, especially if you recall how bloodily the show kicked off. But then again, that’s what all of these different kinds of recording options are for, so don’t forget to set those timers.

The latest big-name star to join the cast of FX’s gripping legal drama Damages is Marcia Gay Harden, an Academy Award winner just like William Hurt, who was added to the second-season cast back in June.
Harden will play a powerful corporate attorney who will oppose Glenn Close’s Patty Hewes in the courtroom and presumably outside it, as well, since we all know lawyers like these gals never rest or quit.

Following the addition earlier this month of A-List movie actor William Hurt in a role as a new client of Patty Hewes, FX’s legal drama Damages has now thrown Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant into the mix.
The newcomer will play a romantic interest for Rose Byrne’s Ellen Parsons, whose former significant other was brutally murdered during the series’ first season.
Olyphant’s last television gig was a one-time guest-star appearance on the ABC sitcom Samantha Who?, starring Christina Applegate. The fact that he’s going from a lighthearted comedy to a hard-hitting drama demonstrates his versatility, which should help him fit in well …read more

Talk about a casting coup. When the FX legal drama Damages returns in early 2009, it will have not one, but two major movie stars in the cast. The first one is actress Glenn Close, of course, who has starred in the series since Day One.
