Great news. It seems the time is drawing near for Team Lilly fans to breathe a collective sigh of relief. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources indicate CBS is looking increasingly likely to renew the flashback cop procedural Cold Case for a seventh season.
The long-running cop drama and its fellow CBS crime series Without a Trace — which wraps its current seventh season on Tuesday, May 19 — were in a cancellation/renewal race as a result of cost-cutting efforts that are affecting the bottom line at most networks. Tonight (May 10) at 9pm ET, CBS’ crime procedural Cold Case will present the conclusion of its two-part Season Six finale called “Into the Blue.”
Unfortunately, since CBS is rumored to be cutting costs for the 2009–2010 season by eliminating at least one older show with a high budget, it seems Cold Case and its fellow procedural Without a Trace, now in its seventh season, have a 50–50 chance of getting canceled before this month is over.
