Rocker Shirley Manson Lands ‘Terminator’ Role

Well, this news has definitely increased my interest in the sophomore sci-fi drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles tenfold. Shirley Manson, the lead singer of the rock band Garbage, has been added to the cast of the Fox series.
In her regular role, the usually redheaded Scottish musician will play a woman named Catherine Weaver who heads a high-tech company. Manson, always a strong and independent figure in the music biz à la Eurythmics’ Annie Lennox, for example, is tailor-made for this type of character.
Garbage also happens to be one of my favorite music groups — I have every one of their full-length releases — so this casting news makes me ecstatic. I hope “Milk” or the “Wicked Remix” of the track finds its way into a Terminator episode next season, too. That would be divine!
