Grrl TV - Shows with Women in Mind

Queen Bees Rule the Tube

by Chandra on May 22nd, 2008

Eva Longoria Parker
TV Guide recently published a photo gallery all about TV’s Greatest Queen Bees. It’s been ages since I’ve heard anyone use that phrase.

[Interlude]
Dictionary.com: Queen Bee (noun) — a woman who is in a favored or preeminent position.
[/Interlude]

According to the magazine’s list, the twelve females deserving of such a lofty, diva-ish title are:

  • Gabrielle Solis, Desperate Housewives (Eva Longoria Parker)
  • Amanda Woodward, Melrose Place (Heather Locklear)
  • Karen Walker, Will & Grace (Megan Mullally)
  • Miss Piggy, The Muppet Show
  • Anne Boleyn, The Tudors (Natalie Dormer)
  • Angela Channing, Falcon Crest (Jane Wyman)
  • Flower, Meerkat Manor
  • Erica Kane, All My Children (Susan Lucci)
  • Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model
  • Blair Waldorf, Gossip Girl (Leighton Meester)
  • Wilhelmina Slater, Ugly Betty (Vanessa Williams)
  • Alexis Carrington, Dynasty (Joan Collins)

Hmmm… Looks about right to me if they’re going to limit themselves to just twelve spots, although it seems someone should have found room for reality-TV prima donna Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth. Maybe she’ll make the next round. And perhaps a little love for Nicollette Sheridan’s wicked (good) Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives, too.
