October Start for ‘The Starter Wife’
Remember Debra Messing’s The Starter Wife from last summer, which was so successful it was extended into a ten-episode series? Well, if you’re a fan of the Will & Grace alumna and that hit six-hour mini-series, get ready to spend more time with the star and her show when they return to USA in October. The date to mark on your calendar so you don’t forget is Friday, October 10, at 10pm EST.
The second time around, the show will feature an even bigger top-notch cast than before. Australian Judy Davis, who won a Best Supporting Actress Emmy last year for her portrayal of Joan McAllister, returns as a regular, alongside Chris Diamantopoulos, who plays Rodney. Criminal Minds’ Joe Mantegna will also make a special guest appearance to reprise his role as former studio head Lou Manahan, Molly Kagan’s (Messing) ex.
Joining those relative old-timers are David Alan Bashe (Lipstick Jungle) as Molly’s ex-husband, Kenny Kagen; Danielle Nicolet (Heartland) as Liz Marsh, Molly’s new friend; Brielle Barbusca (Hope & Faith) as Molly and Kenny’s daughter Jaden; and Hart Bochner (Die Hard) as writing teacher Zach, Molly’s new love interest.
And if that’s not enough, the list of guest stars is equally impressive, including Reggie Austin (Notes from the Underbelly) as Liz’s husband Devon Marsh; Ronny Cox (The Agency) as Joan’s husband Pappy McAllister; Daniel Gerroll (Cashmere Mafia) as a film star Joan meets in rehab named David Shea; James Black (All of Us) as movie star Felix; Krista Allen (Unscripted) as Molly’s nemesis Eve at her daughter’s school; and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) as Robin, who strikes up a friendship with Joan at rehab.
Obviously, USA is going all out for this show. I hope the investment pays off in stellar ratings.
