No New ‘Army Wives’ Tonight - Read a Script Snippet Instead
Since the only episodes of Army Wives coming on tonight are repeats (”The Hero Returns” at 9pm EST and “Uncharted Territory” at 10pm, according to Lifetime’s schedule, although other TV guides list the most recent two episodes), I thought I’d share a section of a script for an upcoming episode to keep fans happy.
The material below is called casting sides, an industry name for sections of a script given to actors when they audition for a role. This lets them study and read their lines while allowing casting agents to only hand over the relevant portion of the script.
Whoever received the following three pages of the script for Army Wives Episode 2.16 was auditioning for the role of a character named Lauren Talbott. She’s the concerned wife of Private Doug Talbott, a young injured soldier and turret gunner. A victim of friendly fire, he ends up in Denise’s wing of Mercer Medical Center and could possibly go blind.

It’s really interesting what you can learn about what’s coming up later this season just by reading the text. It seems Denise, in typical friendly nurse fashion, welcomes Lauren into her home after she’s required to leave her husband’s bedside to get some rest herself, even though the Army has offered Lauren free motel accommodations off-post.
Denise tells Lauren she “could use the company,” and the script indicates the nurse is worried about Frank and Jeremy being in a dangerous situation as she comforts the crying wife. Does this mean both her husband and son will be heading off to the Middle East at the same time?
The snippet ends with a conversation between the two women the next morning and Denise vowing to look into the Talbotts’ situation. Lauren is worried about what will happen to her husband if he’s discharged and returned to civilian life at 23, blind and after dedicating his life to the military since he was 18. It sounds like this plotline is going to be a real tearjerker when it airs.
