Lucy Liu and Carla Gugino Go Goth
Seriously.
Earlier tonight, I was checking out the Sci Fi Channel premiere of a South Africa and Canada-produced series called Charlie Jade (which stars Jeffrey Pierce, who also happened to star in the premiere last night of NBC’s new horror anthology Fear Itself).
During one of the commercial breaks, a brief promo aired for the flick getting featured tomorrow night as the network’s next world-famous Scinema Saturday presentation. It’s a 2007 revenge vampire picture called Rise or Rise: Blood Hunter, depending on whether you saw it first in a movie theater or on DVD.
Notable to us Grrl TV lovers are stars Lucy Liu (Dirty Sexy Money, Cashmere Mafia, Kill Bill) and Carla Gugino (Entourage, Threshold, Sin City), the second of whom is reunited in the film with her Karen Sisco colleague Robert Forster. Even The Shield’s Michael Chiklis appears for an additional smattering of good times.
Liu plays Sadie Blake, a reporter who discovers a shocking detail when she wakes up in the morgue one night — she’s suddenly and unintentionally become a member of the undead masses. Understandably pissed, the rookie vamp vows to make the individuals responsible for her plight pay, and that includes one of her sires, Gugino’s Eve.
The originally R-rated film is from some of the same people who gave us The Grudge and Gothika, and it airs tomorrow at 9pm EST. You can catch the trailer beforehand after the jump, however. Looks good, no, in that special Sci Fi Channel sort of way?
