Linda Stasi’s Bloody Good Review of ‘True Blood’

by Chandra on September 7th, 2008

Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer/True BloodNew York Post TV columnist Linda Stasi, a regular read for me, recently wrote a review of HBO’s new Southern-fried vampire series True Blood that is simply too funny, not to mention quite unflattering. She gives the show a rating of 1.5 stars out of a possible 4 and explains why with “biting” observations like:

What would happen if vampires no longer needed to suck human blood because they could pop into the 7/11 and buy a six pack of synthetic blood whenever they were Jonesing for a bite?

If HBO’s new vampire show is any indication, there would still be countless deaths — especially among vampire hunters and the viewers who love them — because everyone would be dying of boredom.

Ouch!

True Blood stars Oscar winner Anna Paquin (The Piano, X-Men franchise) and is brought to us by Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball. To say there’s a lot of anticipation for the premiere tonight at 9pm EST is probably understating just how much buzz the show has been getting. And, as Stasi accurately notes, her negative review will likely only help feed the frenzy among her readers.

Check out Linda Stasi’s commentary at the New York Post. Whether you plan to watch True Blood or not, the critic’s take on the show is still worth a look.
