Getting My ‘Sanctuary’ On: Meet the Cast
One of the highlights of this month in my life as a TV blogger was the day I received something very special from the Sci Fi Channel, an uncommonly beautiful gift I’d longed for for quite some time.
Yes, I’m talking about the two-hour series premiere of Sanctuary, starring and executive produced by Stargate powerhouse Amanda Tapping. And my birthday doesn’t even arrive for another few weeks!
If all of that exclamatory excitement isn’t a clear clue, I have high hopes for this science-fiction newcomer with a paranormal twist, and I pray I won’t be disappointed. The original one-hour drama is an extension of a fantasy Web series of the same name that also starred Tapping.
On the televised version, the familiar Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis actress continues her online lead role as Dr. Helen Magnus, a “beautiful, enigmatic, always surprising, and brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population — a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that live in hiding among humans.”
Aside from inducing chills through the description alone, the series is notable for its unique filming style, which relies heavily on green screen technology to create virtual sets featuring extraordinary visual effects. Follow the jump to meet the rest of this intriguing drama’s regular cast of four.
And remember that Sanctuary’s special two-hour series premiere, the quite epic-sounding “Sanctuary for All,” airs on Friday, October 3, at 9pm EST. The show will then complete the rest of its 13-episode freshman run on Fridays at 10pm, and, of course, I’ll have an advance review of the season opener.
Now let’s meet the central players…

Hi, Morjana! Apologies for the delay responding — I was offline yesterday.
It’s good to learn I’m not the only one looking forward to Sanctuary. It will definitely be good to see Amanda Tapping on TV regularly again, although not having her on one Stargate series or another will feel weird at first.
