Fear Itself: Briana Evigan Stars in ‘New Year’s Day’
Since NBC’s Fear Itself took a break last week, I almost forgot the horror-suspense anthology returns tonight at 10pm EST with a fresh episode called “New Year’s Day.”
The zombie-themed installment was written by 30 Days of Night’s Steve Niles and directed by the Saw film saga’s Darren Bousman. Its cast is no chump change either, with members like Briana Evigan, daughter of B.J. and the Bear’s Greg Evigan, Niall Matter (Eureka), Cory Monteith (Kyle XY), and Zulay Henao (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).
The plot revolves around typical zombie fare: a woman wakes up one day to discover that the world has not only gone to hell in a handbasket, but is populated by those always freaky, flesh-loving zombies. What has me excited about this one is the talent behind the cameras and off the screen. I got a huge thrill watching 30 Days of Night the first time — the movie is right up an alley with my name plastered all over it — and although this is the small screen, I still have high hopes and expectations for tonight’s episode.
