There are a lot of twists and turns in store for viewers:

Violet’s decision regarding Pete and Sheldon takes a back seat when a dangerously grief-stricken patient appears.

Naomi is forced to choose between remaining at Oceanside Wellness and taking a new position at Pacific Wellcare.

Dell becomes worried about his daughter when Heather arrives in town, fueled by drugs.

And Morgan’s baby gets ready to enter the world while Addison is coming clean to herself about her true feelings for Noah (Josh Hopkins, Swingtown).

Follow the jump to catch a glimpse of what happens to Violet when the expecting doctor is in one of her happier moods. I’m not sure why ABC is calling the clip a sneak peek because the episode promo, included after the jump as well, contains much of the same footage. In any case, if you want to view “Yours, Mine & Ours” completely unspoiled, don’t watch either video because they both include a major reveal.

The first category includes Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Ugly Betty, and Lost.

For viewers who like to keep it real, there are also new seasons coming up of America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Supernanny, and Wife Swap.

Congrats to all of the lucky series. We’ll be hearing more about the fate of newcomers like Castle and The Unusuals, two shows I’m enjoying very much, as well as old-timers like Samantha Who? next month, during the May upfront season, or possibly before then.

In any case, it’s no surprise that five of the early ABC pickups went to shows of particular interest to Grrl TV readers. We just got it like that.

That’s the sound of Private Practice’s second season rushing by. After tonight’s brand-new episode “What You Do For Love,” the first fresh hour since March 26, there will be just one installment left — next Thursday’s season finale “Yours, Mine & Ours.”

Coming up at 10:01pm-ish ET today, Addison runs into Noah when she takes an endangered pregnant patient with heart problems to St. Ambrose, Sam begins having second thoughts about his friendship with Naomi when he notices she often disappears from work without explanation, and Violet’s visibly pregnant state makes Pete and Lisa’s relationship more difficult.

Idina Menzel, the Tony-winning wife of series star Taye Diggs, reprises her role as Lisa King, and Swingtown alum Josh Hopkins returns as Dr. Noah Barnes.

It seems like this installment is all about getting it on with patients’ mothers or mothers who let patients get it on. : ) While Cooper takes on the (criminally stupid and possibly insane) mother of a 12-year-old female patient who is okey dokey with her daughter having sex at that way too young age, Pete arouses (no pun intended) Violet’s inner green monster when he hooks up with the fun-loving mother of yet another patient. There must be something in the Oceanside Wellness Center’s air.

Elsewhere, Sam prepares to testify at a malpractice trial for a colleague, and Addison summons all her strength not to begin a relationship with Noah, who’s all for it, of course. So, will they or won’t they? Hmmm… I have no idea.

This week’s sneak peek after the jump features Addison and Nate having a heated conversation following a dramatic encounter with a patient. I must say I like Hopkins’ more manly character Noah much better than his pushover Swingtown role as Roger Thompson.

During the March 19 episode, Addison and Violet deal with a mentally unbalanced patient whose baby has died; Cooper treats a patient requiring partial removal of his jaw due to cancer; Dell copes with the absence of his daughter after his ex moves to pursue a new job; and Sam and Addison realize they probably won’t hook up with the person they’re each interested in.

The sneak peek after the jump shows Addison, Violet, and Pete having a fairly strident discussion about a patient.

I’m also psyched to see Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Amber Benson on the guest list since her Buffyverse character Tara Maclay has always been a favorite of mine. Sharon Leal (Boston Public) returns as Sonya, too, and another notable visitor is What About Brian’s Amanda Detmer as Morgan Gellman.

During the installment, Addison finds herself attracted to a colleague at St. Ambrose Hospital, but he ends up being more than she bargained for, whatever that means. Elsewhere, Pete and Sheldon try to convince Violet to take a paternity test, which she firmly resists doing. Finally, Naomi helps Sam plan romantic activities with Sonya after he accidentally calls her “Naomi” in bed. Ouch!

The promo and a sneak peek are after the jump, the second of which features Addison and Hopkins’ Dr. Noah Barnes having a wash-up chat before surgery.

Other spectacular guest stars are Boston Public and Soul Men’s Sharon Leal as Sonya, Heroes and Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Leonard Roberts as Ryan, Leonard’s fellow former Buffy cast member Emma Caulfield as Leanne (I miss Anya!), ER and Joan of Arcadia veteran Erik Palladino as Mitch, and current Two and Half Men star Marin Hinkle as Beverly.

During the episode, Naomi and Archer’s relationship grows stronger, even as Addison worries her brother might be slipping back into his familiar old bachelor ways. Dell, Addison, and Naomi also debate the merits of gender reassignment surgery after they realize a couple’s newborn child has both male and female sex organs. In addition, Violet and Sheldon lead a therapy group for couples together, which helps them resolve some of their own issues.

ABC is billing the extravaganza as “The first time the doctors of Seattle Grace and Oceanside Wellness will team up — to save the life of one of their own.” The “one of their own” is Addison’s brother Archer (Grant Show of Swingtown and Melrose Place), of course.

First up at 9pm EST is Grey’s Anatomy with “Before and After,” featuring Private Practice players Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh), Naomi Bennett (Audra McDonald), and Sam Bennett (Taye Diggs).

Addison, Naomi, and Sam rush ailing Archer to Seattle Grace and reunite with old friends Derek and Mark to help save his life. Meanwhile, Izzie employs her fellow doctors in a medical game designed to help teach the interns, and Owen runs into a significant someone from his past.

Next at 10:01pm is the Private Practice episode “Ex-Life,” featuring Grey’s Anatomy players Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), and Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.).

As Archer recoups from surgery, Derek has Addison work with his pregnant neuro patient. Elsewhere, after Sam suffers an asthma attack, Bailey and Naomi collaborate to find its root cause. At Oceanside Wellness, Cooper, Violet, and Pete work together, as well, to treat a mother suffering from postpartum depression.

Also new tonight at 8pm is the Ugly Betty episode “The Courtship of Betty’s Father,” featuring media gossip giant Liz Smith in a cameo. Betty tapes a video tribute for Claire Meade’s 60th birthday that’s very revealing, just not in the way she planned.

But, the real shocker comes when Betty accidentally leaves the camera on at home and discovers some revealing footage about Ignacio. Meanwhile, Daniel and Wilhelmina have difficulty adjusting to the new significant others in their lives.

When Archer suffers a severe seizure, Addison and his girlfriend Naomi aggressively search for the cause and cure, even calling Addison’s ex-husband Derek for counsel. Meanwhile, Violet tells Sheldon and Pete that she is pregnant, and a seven year-old patient is abandoned, left for Cooper to care for.

It’s all about sibling rivalry, literally, during this installment when Addison’s brother Archer arrives in Los Angeles to start working at Oceanside Wellness’ rival clinic Pacific Wellcare. This creates a whole bunch of problems, of course, while pregnant Violet deals with the discovery that neither Pete nor Sheldon wants kids.

Follow the jump for a “Second Chances” promo and sneak peek, the last featuring Kate Walsh with Melrose Place and Swingtown alum Grant Show, who plays Addison’s brother Archer. Thank goodness he’s gotten rid of that distracting ’70s mustache he sported on his last series. Much, much better.
