‘Cold Case’ Looking Good for Season Seven

‘Cold Case’ Looking Good for Season Seven

Great news. It seems the time is drawing near for Team Lilly fans to breathe a collective sigh of relief. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources indicate CBS is looking increasingly likely to renew the flashback cop procedural Cold Case for a seventh season.
The long-running cop drama and its fellow CBS crime series Without a Trace — which wraps its current seventh season on Tuesday, May 19 — were in a cancellation/renewal race as a result of cost-cutting efforts that are affecting the bottom line at most networks. Apparently, CBS is only willing to hang on to …read more

Fox Gives ‘Bones’ Two More Seasons

Fox Gives ‘Bones’ Two More Seasons

The title says it all.
Fox has renewed the fan favorite Bones for not just one, but two entire seasons, the crime procedural’s fifth and sixth. Love much?
We knew the show would return, of course, but this is even better. That’s plenty of time, too, for a certain someone to get his memory back, although the sooner that happens, the happier viewers will be.

Renewal Rumor: Fox Gives ‘Dollhouse’ Second Season

Renewal Rumor: Fox Gives ‘Dollhouse’ Second Season

Cellar-level ratings be damned, Fox has reportedly done the unthinkable — at least in many numbers watchers’ eyes — and renewed Joss Whedon’s sci-fi series Dollhouse for a second season of 13 episodes, reportedly to air on the show’s original day of Fridays in the fall.
Nice! If true, an official announcement will likely follow next week during the broadcast networks’ upfront presentations or possibly even over the weekend. Now, if only such spectacular news were in store for that other Fox sci-fi series called The Sarah Connor Chronicles, too.

2009-2010 Renewals: Law & Order: SVU, Fringe

2009-2010 Renewals: Law & Order: SVU, Fringe

NBC and Fox made lots of fans very happy today by confirming what was already generally expected: both the cop drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the paranormal/sci-fi FBI thriller Fringe will return to the tube for the 2009–2010 season. The renewals mark the impressive 11th go-round for the first veteran series and the sophomore run for the newcomer.
Although NBC is playing a bit of hardball at the moment with SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, the network had better hope both original cast members return. The issue in dispute is money, of course, in …read more

Thank you, most magnificent TV Gods!
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting to hear something positive about the future of the dramedy Privileged, The CW’s best freshman show by far, and the news finally dropped on Sunday, April 19.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “the prospects for “Privileged” have improved, and the show is now considered for a possible midseason order.” Hip, hip hooray! Now we’re talking!
True, Privileged’s fellow newbie 90210 gets all the promotional push and fan attention. But, Privileged is such a superior, better written, and better acted show, it leaves that disappointment in the …read more

But what about the fantastic Privileged?!
The title says it all. The CW has just announced its early renewal of most of the network’s current crop of shows: 90210, America’s Next Top Model, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville, and Supernatural. Notably, 90210 is the only rookie in the bunch.
The CW’s Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff states in the official announcement that each of the picked-up series has “contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity” as the network strives to become “a destination for young women.” I guess young dudes are left out in the cold if …read more

Well, now we know exactly how Lifetime feels about its touching hit drama Army Wives. The network just announced it’s picking up the series for a fourth season of 18 episodes … before the third season has even aired. Talk about showing your love!
Yet, that’s what you get when a show manages to become a network’s most successful series in its entire broadcast history, a period of time that happens to be 25 years in the case of Lifetime. It’s no surprise, then, that the network is thrilled about the record-setting ratings Army Wives continually achieves, to …read more

‘Secret Life of the American Teenager’ Gets Season Two

Following swiftly on the heels of last month’s news that The Secret Life of the American Teenager has been regularly whipping The CW drama Gossip Girl’s butt on Monday nights at 8pm EST, ABC Family has made the very wise and entirely predictable decision to renew the hit series for a second season.
Says the basic-cable network’s executive vice president Kate Juergens: The Secret Life of the American Teenager has really struck a chord not just with our Millennial audience, but with viewers across the board. ‘Sanctuary’ Set for Second Season

‘Sanctuary’ Set for Second Season

Now here’s the kind of news that I like to hear: the Sci Fi Channel has wisely renewed its rookie Amanda Tapping series Sanctuary for a second season of 13 episodes. Smashing!
According to TV Guide, Mark Stern, the network’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming, enthusiastically stated that “Sci Fi will continue to trail blaze the television landscape by further exploring the many worlds of Sanctuary through its unique green screen environments.
