Army Wives: Roland Burton Spoilers

by Chandra on July 8th, 2008

Sterling K. Brown/Army WivesA bit of spoiler news has been unleashed at E! Online recently, all related to central Army Wives character Dr. Roland Burton (Sterling K. Brown) and all not so good.

If you don’t want to know, it would probably be best to stop reading right now. If you do want to get hip to what’s coming up on the show, however, continue after the jump…

Giving in to a recent reader request, TV gossip gal Kristin Dos Santos reports that on an upcoming episode, Roland begins counseling a troubled male teenager who’s father recently died while serving in Iraq. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting doctor, the teen quickly latches on to Roland as a surrogate father figure of sorts, and the situation only worsens from there.

According to the description for the July 27 episode “Loyalties,” someone is going to notice the teen’s relationship with Roland, and the doctor’s behavior is going to come under scrutiny for being inappropriate.

Wow — good guy Roland so does not deserve that kind of scandal. I hope he’s cleared of any wrongdoing as fast as possible.

Why spoil a someone’s reputation–the children today need so much help, & when a child can go to a trusting, responsible adult for guidance that’s responsibility on the child’s part as well as taking ownership. To have a responsible person’s reputation & lively hood ruined is just portraying to our society to stand back & don’t reach out to assist for fear of ruining your own life & career–that’s wrong. Writers of popular shows should be showing the good that can come out of extending a hand to those less fortunate–our children today have enough issues–& to send a mixed message like this–sends a subtle message to both adults willing to extend a hand & the children in need–it really does take a village to raise a child.

I think that’s exactly what the writers intend to do, TrthBTold, by showing Roland surviving a difficult situation and remaining dedicated to his work even when it’s not easy to do so.

It would shock me if the final message of this storyline is anything other than “Keep the faith, no matter what happens.” That’s kind of what the entire show is about, too.
