So Long, ‘Unusuals’: Creator Says Amber Tamblyn Show Over

Amber Tamblyn/The UnusualsAmid all of the great developments this past week concerning a slew of unlikely renewed series comes some sad news for one freshman I like.

Noah Hawley, the creator of ABC’s rookie cop dramedy The Unusuals, has announced the bad news from his Twitter account that the Amber Tamblyn series “will not be back for a second season.” After thanking fans for their “amazing support,” he reminds everyone that there are four remaining Unusuals episodes (of ten produced), which will begin airing on Wednesday, May 27.

I’ve watched every single hour of the midseason series broadcast to date, and while the show isn’t perfect — which freshman program is? — it is funny and seems to have the capacity for growth. Obviously, not enough viewers or ABC executives agree.

If fans like me are lucky and the network airs all of the episodes currently sitting on the shelf, here’s what’s coming up:

May 27: The Tape Delay [10pm ET]
June 3: The Dentist [10pm ET]
June 10: The Apology Line [10pm ET]
June 17: E.I.D. [10pm ET]

Show your love, Unusuals fans, by giving the series a proper ratings send-off. In other words, don’t forget to tune in when Amber and her castmates return to ABC’s lineup.

What do we have to do to keep the unusuals going? In my opnion, there was not enough promotion. I’ll promote it, if I have to. Please don’t cancel the show PLEASE!

I agree with Valerie! Don’t cancel this show. I enjoy it…. and others I know do too.
Someone take the axe away from these people who keep canceling the good shows. I am ready to start reading again. Can a publisher rip a book out of my hand when I am half way through reading it? Probably can on my Kindle.
    Stop the madness!

This show is original, funny, and has a wonderful ensemble cast. There is nothing like it on TV and nothing as good. So why is the network not renewing it? Once again they are lowering the bar. I am totally disgusted.
