‘Swingtown’ Arrives on DVD Today
If you loved CBS’ hedonistic ’70s drama Swingtown from earlier this fall, good news: the show’s thirteen-episode first season comes out on DVD today.
Even better — if you’re still holding on to a sliver of hope that the series might return for a sophomore run — is the fact that the network hasn’t officially canceled it … yet. Word is that execs have a special love for the show, probably because the many baby boomers among them were coming into their own somewhere around that decade.
The DVD set looks good, too, despite studio Paramount’s ridiculous list price of $40.99 for a low-rated, thirteen-episode season. Haven’t they heard yet that people all around the world are suffering from difficult financial times?
In any case, here’s what buyers get in addition to the episodes if they decide to shell out the dough, hopefully for a set that’s on sale at a considerable discount:
- Audio Commentaries
- Deleted Scene
- Featurette: “Have a Nice Revolution: Sex & Morality in 1970’s America”
- Featurette: “The Spirit of ‘76: The Making of Swingtown”
- Gag Reel
That’s definitely not worth 41 bucks, but it’s still a nice group of extras for TV on DVD.
