‘Starter Wife’ Author Gets Another Mini-Series Deal
Gigi Levangie Grazer, the author who penned the hugely popular novel that The Starter Wife is based upon, has another best-seller heading to the tube. Next year, Lifetime will present a four-hour mini-series adapted from Grazer’s 2006 success Maneater.
Cast in the lead role of self-involved 31-year-old socialite Clarissa Alpert is former Roseanne and current Scrubs star Sarah Chalke. The plot revolves around her character’s attempts to gain the attention of a famous Hollywood producer named Aaron Mason and convince him to marry her, a complicated plan that requires the help of her entire family and circle of friends.
Veteran actor, producer, and director Timothy Busfield (Lipstick Jungle, Without a Trace) will direct, while writer Suzanne Martin, a two-time Emmy winner for Frasier, will oversee adapting the book for television.
