Shailene Woodley Spoils ‘Secret Life of the American Teenager’s Return

When ABC Family’s hit drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager returns on January 5, central character Amy Juergens will still be 15, in high school, and very much pregnant. But, those are probably the only things in her already complicated life that will remain the same. As series star Shailene Woodley, who plays the teenager, revealed recently during an interview, numerous changes are on the way for the young mother-to-be.
According to the 17-year-old actress, Amy has become “much stronger personality-wise” since we last saw her. “She’s learned to accept the fact that life isn’t going …read more

It’s Mariska on the ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Set

Goodness — could Mariska Hargitay be any more gorgeous?! There really is something about the actress, and it goes far beyond her physical attributes, too.
Recently, photographers caught up with the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit dynamo as she and co-star Christopher Meloni filmed scenes for their hit series. The pair were both hard at work in New York City’s Central Park, a familiar location setting for the Big Apple-based series.
Although fans have to make do with SVU repeats for now, new episodes kick back in next week at 10pm EST on Tuesday, January 6. First up is …read more

Unbelievable! My Fave ‘Privileged’ Actor Is Leaving

Unbelievable! My Fave ‘Privileged’ Actor Is Leaving

Entertainment Weekly just delivered the awful news: Privileged actor Michael Cassidy — better known as Megan Smith’s best friend/unrequited swooner Charlie Hogan — is leaving the series for both “creative and budgetary” reasons.
In other words, fans can assume there aren’t enough budgetary resources (aka money) left to keep him around, thus showrunners have made the creative decision to write his character out … for now.
According to the Ausiello Files, Cassidy’s last episode this season will be the show’s fifteenth, currently scheduled to air on January 20. The series returns from hiatus two weeks before, on January 6, and its …read more

Out on DVD December 30: The Secret Life of the American Teenager

As Grrl TV mentioned previously, ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager returns on January 5 with the midseason premiere “The Secret Wedding of the American Teenager,” one of twelve episodes remaining in the show’s freshman season.
Viewers can play catch-up before then, however, when the first eleven episodes are released on DVD this Tuesday, December 30.
Don’t be fooled by the packaging, though: while advertising claims the set is Season One, it’s actually just the initial eleven episodes that already aired on television last summer.
For the list price of $39.99 — and, of course, the 3-disc set will be …read more

Bree Ready to Rumble on ‘Desperate Housewives’ in January

Bree Ready to Rumble on ‘Desperate Housewives’ in January

Uh-oh! Fans are in for a whole lotta fun when Desperate Housewives resumes its fifth season on January 4.
During the midseason premiere “Home Is the Place,” our favorite redhead on Wisteria Lane meets the mother of Andrew’s significant other, doctor Alex Cominis, and the resulting conflict isn’t pretty, I tell ya. Regardless, how fantastic is it that Melina, the newcomer who’ll ruffle all of Bree’s pretty little feathers, is played by Blade Runner icon Joanna Cassidy? Exceedingly.
As Bree and Melina compete to prove to the other they’re most loved by their son, Gaby pressures Carlos to forget …read more

‘Bones’ Returns January 15 with ‘Double Trouble’

There’s double trouble ahead on Bones when the series begins airing new episodes next year, starting on January 15 with the midseason premiere “Double Trouble in the Panhandle.”
After conjoined female twins are murdered, fearless Brennan and Booth go undercover at a circus as knife-throwing act Buck and Wanda. Yikes!
Guest stars include Conan O’Brien’s old sidekick Andy Richter (Andy Barker, P.I., Andy Richter Controls the Universe) as circus ringmaster Henry Simon and Ed Gale (The Polar Express; O Brother, Where Art Thou?) as Simon’s assistant Lavalle.
Note that while Bones will still air at 8pm EST after the current hiatus, the …read more

‘Dexter’ Cop Lauren Vélez Heads to ‘Ugly Betty’

‘Dexter’ Cop Lauren Vélez Heads to ‘Ugly Betty’

Any New York Undercover fans out there? If not, you might have a hard time understanding my longstanding love for Dexter top-cop actress Lauren Vélez, who, according to recent news, is slated to appear on the ABC dramedy Ugly Betty soon in a multi-episode arc. Yes!
Vélez will reportedly portray a nurse named Elena associated with Betty’s family, and the newcomer just might have something to do with a major character dying on the show. I know — the death part truly sucks, but having Vélez around could soften the blow a bit for some fans, provided she’s …read more

Fox Developing ‘Bitches’

Fox Developing ‘Bitches’

And you can take that title any way you want…
No, seriously — if you haven’t yet heard the big buzz about Fox’s latest TV series in the works called Bitches, let me enlighten you: The network is placing some of its money on the hope that viewers will want to watch a “quirky urban fairy tale,” featuring four actresses as friends in New York who “moon”-light as werewolves.
Really. I guess it’s good, then, that this prospective series is a dramedy because I can see so much fun being had with that awkward-sounding premise.
The potential masterpiece is brought to the …read more
