‘Melrose Place’ Reboot Underway
It was only a matter of time. The relative success this season of 90210, The CW’s contemporary Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff, has put big ideas into network executives’ heads. Now, they want to breathe new life into the latter show’s earlier spinoff Melrose Place, as soon as they can find a writer, that is.
For those who don’t recall, the 1992–1999 series Melrose Place had a more twenty-something vibe, and the nighttime sudser kept a number of memorable and currently popular TV thesps working, including Josie Bissett (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives), Rob Estes (90210), Heather Locklear (Spin City), Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl), Doug Savant (Desperate Housewives), Grant Show (Swingtown), and Courtney Thorne-Smith (According to Jim).
That’s about all there is to report since the proposed show is just beginning the development phase. Even so, expect to hear lots and lots of chatter about it in coming months, until the project either comes to fruition or fades into oblivion.
