Privileged: ‘All About Honesty’ Preview
I really enjoyed the pilot episode of the new CW dramedy Privileged last week and hope the show can keep up the nice if forgettable mix of light comedy, light drama, and mild suspense.
So far, the series kind of reminds me of fast food: it generally tastes good going down, but all of those calories sure are empty, which makes you crave “more” soon after you’re done. In other words, Privileged is fun enough to watch, but it’s not the kind of show you ponder for hours or days with your friends.
The second episode that premieres on September 16 is called “All About Honesty,” and judging from the subsequent episode titles that have been released, the “All About…” beginning is going to be a recurring motif.
The preview clip below features central character Megan Smith having a chat with her best friend Charlie at an important social function. She’s a guest; he’s the hired help. And, yes, if you haven’t watched, Charlie has been in love with Megan since forever, and, no, for whatever reason she doesn’t realize this, although it’s plainer than day to us viewers.
Apparently, there aren’t many options for these TV boy-girl best friendships. It was either the secret infatuation with the object of affection clueless or Charlie being gay, but the last role is already taken up by the show’s private chef character Marco.
Privileged airs Tuesdays on The CW at 9pm EST.
