‘The L Word’ Gets a Possible Spinoff
There’s good news to report regarding the Showtime drama The L Word.
Although the cable network has previously confirmed the upcoming sixth season as the show’s last, Showtime recently announced that a spinoff of the series is under development.
According to President of Entertainment Robert Greenblatt, Ilene Chaiken, the creator and executive producer of the original series, is creating the spinoff, which will begin moving ahead full speed when The L Word completes production on its final season, which will premiere in 2009.
To add a little suspense to the situation, Greenblatt also states the second show will star one of the actresses from The L Word, who doesn’t yet know her current character could continue existing after the series ends. Talk about nerve-wracking!
Whichever actress and character get lucky, they will be featured in an online series first and then the spinoff if it gets picked up.
