‘Surviving the Filthy Rich’ Gets ‘Privileged’ with Anne Archer

Anne ArcherRemember that upcoming CW show called Surviving the Filthy Rich? It stars Reba alum Joanna Garcia as an Ivy League-educated live-in tutor to a set of wealthy teenage twins.

Well, it looks like the network had a change of heart and decided not only to shorten the lengthy original title to the one-word update Privileged, but also to replace the pilot’s Marsha Mason with Academy Award nominee Anne Archer (Ghost Whisperer, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Clear and Present Danger, Fatal Attraction).

Archer’s character Laurel Limoges is the rich and widowed grandmother of the twins, who come under her care following their parents’ death in a plane crash. That’s a pretty heavy backstory for what I believe is supposed to be a fairly lighthearted drama. It will be interesting to see how it fits into the overall tone of the series.

Regardless, Archer is a fine addition to any cast of any project, a fact her many admirers already know. I hope she’ll also return to her Ghost Whisperer gig from time to time, where she plays the conflicted mother of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Melinda Gordon.
