Bonnie Somerville: From ‘Cashmere Mafia’ to Movies

Bonnie Somerville, one-fourth of the starring cast from ABC’s failed Sex and the City ripoff Cashmere Mafia, is following up that TV show with roles in two feature films, both comedies, although of very different natures.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Somerville will first appear in Katherine Heigl’s (Grey’s Anatomy) next big-screen romantic comedy, a movie called The Ugly Truth that also stars 300’s Gerard Butler. Somerville plays the sister-in-law of Butler’s character.
Next, Somerville will tackle the black comedy Nobody executive produced by Black Hawk Down’s Josh Hartnett and directed by 40 Days and 40 Nights‘ Rob Perez. Her character is reportedly an intelligent but phony art student who’s stuck on herself.
Somerville’s fellow cashmere mafiette, Lucy Liu, joined the cast of ABC’s dramedy Dirty Sexy Money a while back, so it’s nice to see her moving on, too. Now that leaves Frances O’Connor and Miranda Otto. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn those two have movie gigs lined up, as well, since they each have a lot of experience in that medium.
