Graham Norton Chats with Cynthia Nixon

If BBC America comes with your cable plan and you’re also a fan of Sex and the City, you are in luck tonight.
Series star Cynthia Nixon is scheduled to drop by the U.K. nighttime hit The Graham Norton Show in order to talk about the recently released movie, as well as issues like gay marriage in New York. The actress is all for the latter, of course.
English comedian David Mitchell (Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look) and American rock band One Republic are on the guest list, too. Get an advance look at the episode with more …read more

On the ‘Fringe’: Press Screening Thoughts

On the ‘Fringe’: Press Screening Thoughts

On Thursday, Fox screened the pilot episode of its forthcoming FBI paranormal chiller Fringe for assorted industry folk, and E! was there.
What follows is some scoop from the subsequent report. Keep in mind that the lucky people invited to the screening (none of whom were yours truly) were forbidden to discuss the exact plot and other overly spoilery details. If you want to watch Fringe completely cold, though, I suggest not reading further.
Okay, for those still here:
Fringe is basically about numerous crimes with a paranormal bent that seem to be the work of a proverbial “evil genius.” …read more

Does ‘In Plain Sight’ Have USA’s Magic Dramedy Touch?

Does ‘In Plain Sight’ Have USA’s Magic Dramedy Touch?

That is the question, isn’t it?
I had the chance to preview three episodes of USA’s newest dramedy, In Plain Sight, before the series debuts on television this Sunday at 10pm EST. The premiere episode will last an extended 76 minutes, with limited commercial interruption thanks to single sponsor Procter & Gamble.
In Plain Sight is notable because, like last year’s The Starter Wife, it revolves around a female character, namely Mary Shannon, played by West Wing, ER, and Murder One alum Mary McCormack. The tough law-enforcement agent is a New Mexico-based U.S. Marshal who works for WITSEC, better known …read more

Robert Rodriguez Wants ‘Women in Chains!’

Robert Rodriguez Wants ‘Women in Chains!’

And so do I!
All kidding aside (kinda), Ain’t It Cool News broke the cool news earlier this week that famed film director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Spy Kids, The Faculty, From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado) is set to produce and direct a prospective exploitation TV series about hardcore women in prison and the sadistic jail employees who make their lives a living hell. All he needs is a network to pick it up.
The show is currently called Women in Chains! — note the obligatory exclamation point for added dramatic effect — and would supposedly star Rodriguez’s fiancée, Charmed actress …read more

Fox just released a new video today featuring Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon and star Eliza Dushku providing a little dish on their joint brainchild.
Why, why, why is the network making us wait all the way until the New Year for this one?!!!
Anyway, check out the video below.

Jennifer Hudson of ‘Sex and the City’ Speaks

Jennifer Hudson of ‘Sex and the City’ Speaks

Entertainment Weekly has a nice interview with Sex and the City newcomer Jennifer Hudson. The American Idol alum and Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG winner landed a role in the big-screen flick, which opens in U.S. theaters tomorrow, playing Louise, the young assistant of Sarah Jessica Parker’s iconic character Carrie Bradshaw.
Hudson discusses a number of issues in the interview, including whether or not she was a fan of the original HBO series (the 26-year-old hadn’t seen more than a couple of episodes prior to reading the script for the movie version), how she handled the negative gossip …read more

Rocker Shirley Manson Lands ‘Terminator’ Role

Rocker Shirley Manson Lands ‘Terminator’ Role

Well, this news has definitely increased my interest in the sophomore sci-fi drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles tenfold. Shirley Manson, the lead singer of the rock band Garbage, has been added to the cast of the Fox series.
In her regular role, the usually redheaded Scottish musician will play a woman named Catherine Weaver who heads a high-tech company. Manson, always a strong and independent figure in the music biz à la Eurythmics’ Annie Lennox, for example, is tailor-made for this type of character.
Garbage also happens to be one of my favorite music groups — I have every …read more

CCH Pounder New Woman in Charge of ‘Warehouse 13’

CCH Pounder New Woman in Charge of ‘Warehouse 13’

The smart people casting Sci Fi Channel’s paranormal dramedy pilot for Warehouse 13 — a potential series said to be a cross between Eureka, The X-Files, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Moonlighting — recently hired The Shield’s CCH Pounder to play the woman responsible for managing the title South Dakota facility.
Variety reports Pounder will portray Mrs. Frederic, the head of a secret organization sponsored by the U.S. government. Part of her job requires making sure that dangerous paranormal objects are securely stored at Warehouse 13.
Pilot cast members for the hourlong dramedy already include Joanne Kelly (The Dresden Files), …read more
